We usually reply within two business days. If you are reporting a problem, telling us which app, your device, your app version, and what you were doing at the time gets us to an answer much faster. The version is at the bottom of Settings in Bibliotheca, and under About Atelier in Atelier, where a tap copies it.

How do I add my books?
Drop an EPUB or PDF anywhere on your library and it appears on the shelf. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac you can also use the + button, share a file into Bibliotheca from another app, or add a physical book by scanning its barcode.
Where is my library stored?
On your device. Bibliotheca is local-first: you can use it fully without an account, and your books never leave your device unless you turn on syncing. See the privacy policy for the detail.
My books are not appearing on my other device.
Syncing is part of a membership. Check that both devices are signed in to the same account and set to the same sync option in Settings, and that Settings shows the sync status as up to date. Large EPUB and PDF files download on demand the first time you open a book on a new device, so a book can appear on the shelf before its file has arrived.
I paid, but the app still shows the free tier.
Open Settings and use Restore Purchases, then quit and reopen the app. If it still has not appeared, email us with the date of purchase and we will sort it out directly.
How do I cancel a membership?
Memberships bought on iPhone, iPad, or Mac are managed by Apple: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. We cannot cancel or refund an Apple subscription on your behalf, but Apple can.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and choose Delete Account. This removes your account and the data synced to it. Books stored only on your device are not affected, and deleting the app removes those.
Something looks broken or a book will not open.
Tell us the book's format and, if you can, send the file — most rendering problems come down to an unusual EPUB and we would like to fix them properly rather than guess.

How do I add a work?
Use the + button. Scan a drawing with the camera, choose photos or files, paste a link, or look through a museum's open collection. On the Mac you can also drop files onto the window, and on iPhone and iPad you can share a picture or a link into Atelier from another app.
How do I find a work?
Tap the magnifying glass, or press Command F on the Mac. Type anything written about the work: its title, who made it, a tag, the year, the medium. Or tap a colour to see the works of that colour, closest first; the last dot picks any colour at all. A colour typed as a word works too, so "blue" beside a name finds that person's blue pictures. The search looks through whatever is being shown, so choose Everyone first to look everywhere.
Where are my pictures stored?
On your device, as ordinary files you can see in the Files app. Atelier has no account and we never receive your pictures. If you turn on Archive in iCloud Drive, the archive moves to your own iCloud so your other devices see it too.
How does my family see the archive?
Open Makers, mark a maker as shared, and choose Family archive to invite people through iCloud. They see, and can add to, the work of every shared maker. Everything else stays yours alone. Everyone needs to be signed in to iCloud, and a new work can take a minute to arrive.
A work is missing from the wall.
A room shows what is placed there. Open the work, choose Edit, and set Shown to Framed on the wall. A link you paste arrives as inspiration on the studio shelf, so it needs this once if you want it framed.
Where do the museum works come from?
From The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Open Access collection. Only works the museum has released into the public domain are offered, and each keeps a note of where it hangs in life.
What does linking Bibliotheca do?
It is optional. Linked, your recent books stand on the studio's shelves. Atelier only reads your library and never changes it, and you can unlink at any time from the same place.
How do I keep a backup?
Choose Export archive from the menu to save everything, pictures and details together, anywhere you like. Import archive brings it back on any device.
What is free, and what does unlocking change?
Atelier is free for the first 30 works, with every room, the mood board and the family archive included. Unlocking is one purchase, once, with no subscription, and covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. Family makes room for everything in the Children and Personal wings, Studio for the Studio and Inspiration wings, and All access for both. Nothing you have added is ever locked, and someone invited into your family archive can add to it without buying anything.
I bought an unlock, but Atelier still asks.
Open About Atelier from the menu and choose Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account that bought it. If it still asks, email us the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
The rooms make sounds. Can I turn them off?
Yes. Each room has a speaker button, and the choice is remembered. The sounds also follow the silent switch on iPhone.
